HaakemKVKK Notice (Turkey)
Under Article 10 of Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 ("KVKK"), we inform you about the personal data processed when you use Haakem.
1. Data controller
Oğulcan Tanrıyar (Haakem). Company details (title, address, MERSİS) will be added once the company being founded for Haakem is registered. Contact: privacy@haakem.com
2. Personal data processed
- Identity and contact: display name, phone number, optional profile photo.
- User content: debate topics, messages, images, Haakem's notes and verdicts, your verdict votes, reports.
- Transaction security and technical: push token, online status, service logs (without message content).
3. Purposes
- Account creation and authentication;
- Providing messaging and allowing people to be added to debates;
- Enabling the AI referee Haakem to follow debates, check claims and give verdicts;
- Detecting inappropriate content, handling reports and keeping the service safe;
- Sending notifications, operating and improving the service;
- Complying with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases
Your personal data is processed under KVKK art. 5/2-c (performance of a contract: necessary to provide the service), art. 5/2-f (legitimate interest: security and improvement), art. 5/2-ç (legal obligation) and, where required, art. 5/1 (explicit consent). Haakem reading your messages is the core function of the app; you are informed and asked for consent at sign-up.
5. Transfers and international transfers
Your data is transferred to the providers we use to deliver the service: hosting and database (Supabase, EU), AI (Anthropic, USA), notification delivery (Expo, Apple, Google; USA) and the SMS verification provider. In texts sent to the AI, participant names are pseudonymized and phone numbers and emails are masked. International transfers rely on the safeguards in KVKK art. 9 (standard contracts and notification to the Board) and, where required, your explicit consent. Data may also be shared with competent authorities where legally required.
6. Method of collection
Your data is collected electronically through the app, from the information you enter and what you share in debates. When a user adds you by phone number, your number is used only to match a registered account.
7. Retention
During the beta, your data is kept until you delete your account. When you delete your account in the app, your profile data and content are deleted or anonymized immediately; email requests are resolved within 30 days; deletion from backups may take up to 7 more days.
8. Your rights (KVKK art. 11)
You have the right to learn whether your data is processed, request information, learn the purpose and whether it is used accordingly, know the third parties it is transferred to, request correction, deletion or destruction, request notification of these to third parties, object to results against you arising solely from automated analysis, and claim compensation for damages.
